    Abstract
Marine-related development activities require environmental and socioeconomic impact assessments, as well as consultation with other stakeholders who share and use that environment. Major projects such as the PEI Fixed Link, Hibernia's offshore operations, or the Sable Offshore Energy Project required careful planning in order to minimize negative impacts on established fishing activities. These impacts could include temporary or permanent loss of access to traditional fishing grounds, marine life habitat alteration, or damage to fishing gear or vessels.
