Alternative development standards: Practical tools for sustainable land development
Abstract
Challenges associated with urban sprawl and
pressures of growth continue to mount across North
America. Fuelling these challenges are outmoded
land development standards that over-engineer and
over-design community infrastructure, including
roads, parking, parks and systems for stormwater
and wastewater. The resulting systems are costly to
build and maintain.
