Future of Nanaimo
Abstract
First segment (19 min.) is an audio recording of Mayor Frank J. Ney’s February 1973 presentation to the Nanaimo Historical Society about his predictions about Nanaimo’s future. Ney shares his thoughts on the city’s continued population growth, its ongoing role as a transportation hub, and its future economy. Ney also comments on the possible fashion choices of the future, and expresses his hope that the city’s industry and environmental concerns can exist together in harmony.
The second segment (9 min.) is an audio recording of William Barraclough interviewing Mayor Ney in May 1973, in which Ney gives details about both his personal and political life.
